Buenos Aires, Dec. 24 (NA) – The Office of Domestic Violence (OVD) of the Supreme Court reported that there were 3,182 cases involving children and adolescents who were victims of family violence during 2024. According to what Argentine News Agency (NA) learned, the OVD indicated that 3,484 people were denounced, a figure representing 32%, while the Judiciary issued 4,474 precautionary measures. The statistics show that 52% of the victims were female, the average age was 9 years, and in 80% of the cases there was a kinship with the alleged aggressor (66% were their parents and 34% their mothers). In turn, psychological or emotional abuse was recorded in 95% of cases, physical abuse in 37%, and sexual abuse in 9%. Among the affected children and adolescents, 244 had some type of disability. There were also 5 adolescents between 16 and 17 years old who were pregnant at the time of their presentation at the OVD, and 4, between 15 and 17, who had children. Professionals verified injuries in 140 minors, who showed wounds on their faces (36%) and more than half (55%) exhibited injuries from previous events. The complaints were received daily or weekly (59%), and in 36% of the events there was a very high or high risk, according to the evaluation made by the OVD's medical team.
